Review of Iron Mountain after a six months periode | Web Hosting Articles

Six months ago i was checking out some of the hosting forums to find a new host for my website. I had just spent 2 years with a name brand VPS hosting company whose support and service had become pretty bad. So I started looking around.
After a couple of false starts and some misdirection by another VPS provider, I found Iron Mountain hosting.
First, I should say that I’m not a reseller but have about 25 of my own websites. And I develop a new one from time to time .. and take one down from time to time.

I signed up for Iron Mountain’s fully managed Diamond plan for what sounded like a pretty fair deal, especially with more than double the RAM I had previously. Another thing I traded in was that bloody CPanel .. in favor of Webmin .. which, it turns out, I seldom need.
During these past 6 months I can recall a few issues that resulted in some downtime. The worst one involved about 24 hours .. I believe it was a kernel problem. All but 1 were reported or warned about ahead of time .. and that 1 involved replacing a battery on a backup generator, I believe. So they haven’t been 100%, but they haven’t broken my back either.
What they have given me is better service and support that I thought possible in this industry.
Tickets get answered fast .. seldom even an hour.
Support has written a couple of scripts for me so I can connect to my mySQL databases without changing any of the page code.
Support has installed various 3rd party software for me .. on the VPS server .. and they have offered to install other scripts.
I have a problem with my ISP shaping international bandwidth for certain ports. No problem. Support has droped tables for me, set up new accounts, CHOWNed accounts .. actually, anything I have asked them to do.
But the good part, they act like they enjoy making me happy. So they are either really great foks .. or darn good actors. It has been a real pleasure associating with them.
Iron Mountain may not be the best in the industry, but they are way ahead of whoever is in second place.
